Our military is the best in the world because of the people who serve – the men and women who willingly and proudly volunteer to protect our safety and the cause of freedom. They put their lives on hold at the drop of a dime, choosing to serve our country with courage and honor.
It is the people who serve who are the strength, the people who sacrifice, the people who are the best in the world.
That’s why we want to serve you. You proudly and voluntarily served our country, and now we want to help you find the civilian job that’s best for you. We are happy to offer our services to you free of charge, and encourage you to take full advantage of everything we provide.
We want to help you in every part of the job-seeking process: from creating a resume, to establishing a social media presence, from networking with veteran-friendly companies and other job-seeking veterans, to searching, finding, and getting hired at the civilian job you want.
We offer a variety of services to help make this process easiest and most successful for you.
Employers search our Resume Database for candidates to fill their open positions. In other words, creating a profile enables you to be found by employers first. We invite (and encourage) you to upload your resume and fill out a profile. It’s quick, easy, and highly effective.
We have over 330,000 available job opportunities posted on our job board, just for you. Companies and organizations who value your service and experience as a veteran post jobs on our board. You can search by job type, location, salary, field, etc., and apply for the ones that interest you.
Resume Best Practices is a guide we provide to help you transform your military resume into a civilian ready document. We want to make sure you have the necessary tools to get the best civilian job you can, and a resume is a big part of that. In our guide, we offer advice on how to translate military experience into civilian terms, and we offer a template resume and cover letter to get you started.
Our Opportunity Expos are veteran-exclusive hiring fairs. Companies and organizations come specifically to network with you and display open opportunities with their companies. We hold Opportunity Expos all over the country (we are holding 63 in 2012 alone), and are proud to hear from veterans regarding the success they’ve had attending.
We also offer veterans a chance to work through us to pursue higher education. Our Education Center is a great place to search for veteran-friendly schools, and to research where and how your education benefits will apply.
Similarly, our Franchising Center is a excellent resource for veterans who want to own their own business. As a veteran, you’ve learned a great deal about leadership and initiative in the military, and entrepreneurship is a great way to apply those skills in the civilian world.
We also offer our magazine, Search & Employ, which contains articles, job opportunities, and highlights companies actively looking to hire military veterans.
On our Blog, we have tips and advice – everything from How to Ace That Phone Interview, to Establishing a Social Media Presence, How to Search our Job Board, How to Set up Your Profile in our Database, and many job opportunities with companies who value your military service and experience.
Our Facebook page, Twitter account, LinkedIn company page and group, and YouTube channel are all here for your use. We post relevant job-seeking information, event schedules, and product support, as well as tips and advice, job openings and opportunities, and the invitation to share your story and comments regarding transitioning and job-seeking. Come visit us in the Social Media world anytime – we’d love to chat with you!
Overall, we are here for you. We want to make your process of transitioning and job-searching as smooth and successful as possible. The services we provide give you the opportunity to explore all your options, to network, research, equip yourself, and ultimately, find the civilian job that’s best for you.
